Pioneers Reunion and Work Camp, June 2016

It's been a long time since we all pieced the Network together and 2016 seemed a good time to have some sort of reunion of the teams that did the work. So everyone involved was invited to a weekend in Bristol, June 3/4/5 2016.

Activities included a boat trip round Bristol Harbour on the Friday night, and a ride on the Saturday to Bath and around the Two Tunnels circuit followed by a BBQ and party that evening. The "Roll for the Soul" club of local Sustrans people joined us old timers and acted as hosts on the rides and as an inspiration for the future. And some of us met up with the new Sustrans CEO - a great opportunity for him to learn about the history and passions of Sustrans.

Following the Reunion, there was a work camp on the link to Brean, based on the fully equipped Diamond Farm Camping Park. Participants cycled down from Bristol to Clevedon, Weston and Brean via the two tidal sluices which the Council is working on to open up for cyclists. The rest of the week was devoted to building the path from the Axe sluices to Brean.

The work camp finished with a final ride  back to Bristol along the Strawberry Line and Festival Way on Saturday 11th.
